Cassimiro

Cassimiro (Right) who is the caretaker and lives at the farm has been the slightly skeptical of the partnership arrangement I have with my other three community partners. He has preferred to be paid for his tasks forgoing partnership even though he was assured that the capital improvement phase would last only ten months. Ten months later he has seen the other partners harvesting and enjoying the trusting relationship that has been developed between us. Instead of inspecting each harvest before produce is sold I have asked that we simply write down what is taken on a legal pad that is nailed to a wall inside of Cassimiro's house. 50/50. It’s working.

The capital improvements for the year ended last week and I had been wondering whether Cassimiro would leave the farm. Yesterday as I was leaving late in the day I saw him in the field I had offered him months ago in partnership. He was taking seeds from his hand and placing them in the ground with a smile on his face.
